Children’s Health

Improving the health and wellbeing of children is at the heart of our mission. With the establishment of the Le Pan Clinic in Wubel, we are creating a lifeline for Chakfem and neighbouring communities.

Our child-health interventions include:

  • Access to routine immunization according to national guidelines

  • Sustainable, evidence-based, and affordable healthcare services

  • Safe delivery services by trained midwives and nurses

  • Community health education for mothers, including:

    • Safe water handling practices

    • Preparing oral rehydration solutions for diarrheal illnesses

    • Simple, life-saving preventive measures for daily use

Water for Villages

Across the 13 villages that make up Chakfem District, access to clean and safe water remains a daily struggle. While a few households depend on shallow wells, most women and children walk long distances—sometimes several kilometres—each day to fetch water from unsafe streams.

Sanitation challenges compound the problem. With no access to proper toilets or even basic Ventilation Improved Pit (VIP) latrines, communities face high rates of preventable diseases. Children are especially vulnerable.

Le Pan Health and Wellness Initiatives is working to change this reality. Through the provision of community boreholes and the construction of VIP latrines, we aim to ensure that every family in Chakfem can access clean water and dignified sanitation.

Family Wellness

The Chakfem people live in remote hills and valleys on the southwestern edge of Mangu Local Government Area in Plateau State. For decades, these communities have been largely overlooked—without motorable roads, health facilities, clean water systems, or adequate sanitation.

Le Pan Health and Wellness Initiatives is committed to bridging this gap by promoting maternal and child health, improving water and sanitation, and strengthening overall family wellness. Our plans include:

  • Emergency response and stabilization services, with referral support to larger hospitals when needed

  • Access to antenatal care, safe delivery options, immunization, and comprehensive maternal and child welfare services

  • Availability of family planning and reproductive health services for women

Transforming these communities is a shared responsibility. We welcome the partnership of individuals, organizations, and supporters who believe in creating lasting impact and bringing hope to the Chakfem people.

Through these efforts, we aim to reduce childhood illness and mortality and give every villager a healthy start in life. Together, we can build healthier families and stronger communities.
